Google launched the much-anticipated Google Pixel 2 XL on 5th October with features such as water resistance, always-on display and a lot more. So today, we will be comparing Google’s latest offering Pixel 2 XL  with Apple’s iPhone X. We will look at many aspects such as design, price and the display.

Round 1 – Design

The Pixel 2 XL has a pretty simple design. The screen isn’t curved at the edges, nor is there any edge-to-edge display. This time around, Google has gone for an aluminium back this time instead of glass. The branding is minimal with a simple ‘G’ at the back. On the other hand, the iPhone X features an Edge-to-edge display with face ID built-in.

Both the Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X feature water resistance. Both the Pixel 2 XL and the iPhone X have an IP-67 rated water resistance. The winner here is a matter of personal preference.

Round 2 – Display

Google Pixel 2 XL

The Pixel 2 XL comes with a 6-inch POLED display at 538 PPI. It has a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. It also has Corning gorilla glass 5 with always-on display. The iPhone X comes with a 5.8-inch super retina display which supports a high resolution of 2436 X 1125 with 458PPI pixel density. The display has OLED technology and is dust and water resistant. Pixel 2 XL has better screen resolution and PPI.

Round 3 – Power

The Pixel 2 XL comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset which is clocked at 2.35Ghz + 1.9Ghz and 64 Bit Octa-Core Processor and it also sports an Adreno 540 GPU. It comes with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB and 128GB internal storage. The iPhone X comes with Apple’s A11 Bionic engine which is a six-core chipset and 3 GB RAM.

Round 4 – Camera

The Pixel 2 XL comes with a 12.2-Mega Pixel rear camera with Autofocus and laser and Dual Pixel Phase Detection. It also has support for Optical image stabilisation and Electronic image stabilisation for more professional Photography and Videography.

The Pixel XL does not have dual cameras. The iPhone X has a 12-Mega Pixel Dual Camera with image filters, Dual optical image stabilization and Dual LED true tone flash. We are yet to see any sample shots from either of the phones mentioned.

Round 5 – Battery

The google’s latest offering pixel comes with a 3,520mAh battery which provides up to 7 hours of battery life in a 15-minute charge. The iPhone X comes with  2716 mAh battery. The Pixel 2 XL has a larger battery, but only real-world tests will show us the real battery life of the phones.

Round 6 – Pricing

The Pixel 2 XL’s pricing starts at $849 ( 73,000 INR ). The iPhone X priced at $999 ( 89,000 INR ) for 64GB storage variant and $1149 for 256GB storage variant. The Pixel 2 XL is a bit cheaper than the iPhone X. The price will vary from variant-to-variant.
