This is the new movie in The Conjuring Universe, Annabelle Creation and the fourth part, which is the prequel to a prequel. The first time we saw the smiling doll it literally gave us chills, which was first introduced in the Conjuring directed by James Wan.Now we are going to give you our honest opinions on Annabelle: Creation.
Cast and Crew Of Annabelle Creation:
Director: David F. Sandberg
Starring: Miranda Otto, Stephanie Sigman, Anthony LaPaglia, Lulu Wilson
Producers: Peter Safran, James Wan
Written By: Gary Dauberman
The movie starts in the early 1940s, a doll-maker and his wife, Samuel and Esther Mullins, lose their young daughter to a road accident. After this tragedy, they move away from the reality and stay in a farmhouse far from civilization, along with a doll which the daughter used to have with her named Annabelle.
Some days later Six orphaned girls and a nun named Sister Charlotte arrive at the farmhouse where the Mullins are situated, and ask if they could stay here, The Mullins think of it has a good deed and agree with it.
The girls move in and enjoy their time over at the farmhouse. There is a girl who is polio-afflicted named Janice for whom there was a special type of wheel chair which would allow her to move upstairs and downstairs, and you all know children love to search new things and play around with new things and so Janice found a room which was locked away and tried to open it but couldn’t help. Later that night she got in and found the same replica of the house inside the room, it was Annabelle’s room. In the room there lies the possessed doll named after Annabelle. Janice unlocks yet another door and lets the evil out which starts the tale.
According to me, it wasn’t much scary for me at least, the cinematography was pretty good, it literally looked like the 1940’s with the house, a truck and the yard around it.
The film is directed by David F Sandberg who also directed Lights Out which turned out to be more of a fun movie, although when compared both, for me Lights out was better but the visuals and the atmosphere were way better in Annabelle Creation. There were some jump scares but they were pretty predictable and forgettable.
For those who have already watched Conjuring might know that the doll is already evil-possessed, there was no need for a big and dramatic reveal to it.
Peter Debruge from Variety said:
“Clearly aware that he’s been stuck with a lazy script, yet eager to capitalization on the momentum of Lights Out, gifted Swedish director Sandberg appears to be using this project as a practice, trying every trick in the book. “
The end of the movie was not at all up to the mark, it was all so rushed in with a priest coming in and blessing the house and etc. Although it’s watchable. So give it a try.
