After months and months of leaks and rumours, finally, the day has arrived. Google has announced the second generation of its flagship smartphones, the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Google is trying to bring together its best hardware, software and machine learning into their new devices.

Display Of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

For starters, the Pixel 2 sports a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED Display at 441 PPI with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. It has 2.5 D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection. The latest flagships also support Always-On Display with various features.

The Pixel 2 XL sports a Fullscreen 6-inch display with QHD POLED Display at 538PPI. It has a resolution of 2880 x 1440. The Pixel 2 XL has 3 D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Even Pixel 2 XL support Always-On Display.

Cameras on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL:

The rear-facing camera packs in 12.2-Mega Pixel with Autofocus with laser and Dual Pixel Phase Detection. It also has support for Optical image stabilisation and Electronic image stabilisation. With the help of OIS, your videos can look more professional. It has a f/1.8 aperture.

Talking about the front camera, it has an 8-Mega Pixel front camera with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera produces videos at 1080p @ 30fps, 720p @ 30fps, 480p @ 30fps.

The rear camera produces videos at 1080p @ 30fps, 60fps, 120fps,  720p @ 30fps, 60fps, 240fps and 4K @ 30fps.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL pack in Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Chipset which is clocked at 2.35Ghz + 1.9Ghz and 64 Bit Octa-Core Processor and it also sports an Adreno 540.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL have 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB and 128GB internal storage. It also offers you unlimited online storage of videos and photos.

Design of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL:

Google hasn’t gone for something too flashy here, the screen doesn’t curve around the sides like we’ve seen in the S8, also there are no notches on the screen which enables edge-to-edge design. No shiny glass this time but the aluminium back makes the phone gripper. At the bottom, there is a simple branding with a logo of ‘Google’.

Battery life On Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL:

The Pixel 2 will pack in 2,700mAh battery which can provide up to 7 hours of usage with just 15minites of charge. Whereas, the Pixel 2XL has a 3,520mAh battery with the same amount of charge needed.

Water Resistance, Color Options, Connectivity and Pricing Details

The device made of Aluminium unibody with hybrid coating and also is IP67 water and dust resistant.

Google Pixel 2 is available in three colours: Just Black, Clearly White and Kinda Blue. This names always crack me up. But the Pixel 2 XL is an only available in two colours: Just Black and Black and White.

In terms of connectivity, it has support for WiFi 2.4G + 5Ghz 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0+LE, it also supports NFC.

Also, there is no headphone jack. Sad, but we do get a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter in the box so Yay!.

Google Pixel 2 is priced at $649 and the Pixel 2 XL starts at $849. It comes with Android 8.0.0 Oreo out of the box with minimum 3years of OS and Security Updates.
