The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo, last year launched world’s first smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor the Vivo X20 Plus UD which was announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show(CES) 2018 and now they have come up with yet another smartphone, the Vivo APEX Concept phone which grabbed our attention at Mobile World Congress(MWC) 2018 in Barcelona.
Vivo APEX Details
Vivo has unveiled their new smartphone on Monday, the Vivo Apex Concept Phone which is said to one of the first smartphones with a FullScreen display. The Vivo APEX smartphone is a concept smartphone with a FullView screen and featuring world highest screen-to-body ratio.
Vivo APEX features a minimal 1.8mm side bezel which is claimed to be the thinnest bezel in any smartphone till date. The smartphone also has a 4.3mm bottom bezel and a 98% screen-to body-ratio, it is said that Vivo has mounted the microchips directly to the flexible circuit board which results in this great enormous screen-to-body ratio.
Just like the Vivo X20 Plus UD, the Vivo APEX also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, although we have to place our finger on a particular spot on X20 Plus UD to unlock it, this time the sensor on the APEX covers almost half the screen as it has a half-screen in-fingerprint technology.
Another great feature about the Vivo APEX is that the smartphone comes with a selfie camera which pops out whenever the camera is opened, now, this is a great way to make the phone minimal. Now you make wonder where are the earpiece and sensor? the earpiece and proximity sensor are embedded under the display, the phone uses vibrations to generate sound through the display and proximity sensors are also present.
” We committed to bringing in technology and innovation in every new product that comes out of our stable and APEX is not an exception. The futuristic design innovations in APEX are only a fraction of our innovation pipeline” Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of VIvo, said in a statement.
The Vivo APEX also comes with a dual fingerprint scanning technology which makes the smartphones much more secure.
Talking about the camera, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera which is hidden inside on the top and can be triggered after opening the camera application. The camera takes 0.8 seconds to come out from the top.
Vivo claims an amazing sound quality of the Vivo APEX as it uses a new technology for the DAC and three amplifiers.
Vivo has already mentioned that Vivo APEX is just a concept smartphone and it will not be available for purchase. But it’s clear that we will see a pop-out camera and the fingerprint scanning technology in future Vivo smartphones.
