After a fair success of HTC’s last year’s so-called ‘Squeeze phone’ the HTC U11, the company is back in the news again but this time its successor might be called as HTC U12+ instead of U12.  Evan Blass from VentureBeat, a reliable source has suggested some specifications and naming scheme for the device, so let’s take a look.

HTC U12+ Smartphone Details

According to the source, HTC’s next flagship will not be named as what we’ve been referring it to be. If we take a look at the naming scheme of its last year’s flagship which was named as HTC U11 this time its successor should be named as HTC U12,  but Evan Blass suggests that it will be called as HTC U12+ which will be offering some more features and great specs.

The HTC U12+ will be a fair name to the flagship as the U11 was then upgraded to a new model as U11+ and so this year it would make sense to name the smartphone as U12+.

Display And Camera:

Blass suggests that the U12+ will sport a 6-inch LCD  panel with WQHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution and fewer bezels all around the display making it a beautiful display on a smartphone.

Moving to the camera of HTC U12+, the smartphone will be having four camera lenses making it a powerful camera smartphone. On the front, there is a dual camera setup with both being  8-megapixel sensor.

Till now HTC had single camera on the back which made it look old or not up to today’s standards, but this time the smartphone will feature a dual camera setup on the back too, comprising a 16-megapixel and 12-megapixel lenses.

Hardware, Software And Features:

The HTC U12+ will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor which is the latest one. The smartphone will have a 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of Onboard storage which will be expandable via MicroSD card. The smartphone will be backed up by a 3,420 mAh non-removable battery.

It is expected that the smartphone will run Android 8.0 Oreo and HTC’s own skin on top of it. Other than this, HTC will introduce the second generation of its Edge Sense technology which was earlier seen in last years U11.

The Edge Sense second generation will have some more squeeze gestures and will add a significant feature found only on HTC smartphones.

Launch Date And Pricing:

Blass says that the launch date of HTC U12+ has been shifted forward. So the smartphone will launch in early May this year instead of late April. The HTC U11+ last year skipped the US market completely but was launched in India.

Hopefully, this time the U12+ will launch in US and India as well. There is no information tipped regarding pricing of the device.
