There was several leaks of the Huawei Y9 (2018) smartphone in the past. But now the Chinese manufacturer Huawei has officially launched its mid-range smartphone the  Huawei Y9 (2018) in Thailand. The Huawei Y9 (2018) is actually the Mate 10 Lite which was launched in Europe last year.

Design And Display:

The phone looks like a typical Huawei smartphone with a rectangular overall design. The smartphone comes with a tough metal unibody design and there are also antenna bands present on top and bottom edges of the device.

The Huawei Y9(2018) sports a 5.93-inch FullHD+(2160×1080 pixels)  IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. The glass of the phone is a 2.5D curved glass and viewing angles are great as claimed by Huawei.

Hardware And Software:

Talking about the hardware of the device, the phone is powered by Kirin 659 octa-core processor coupled with a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage which can be expandable via MicroSD card. The smartphone comes only in this one variant which is a downside as smartphones from other manufacturers offers 4GB and some even 6GB of RAM.

The smartphone will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box which is a great thing and Huawei’s own skin EMUI 8.0 on top of it.


The Camera’s on the Huawei Y9(2018)  looks pretty good at least on paper as the smartphone features four sensors, dual camera setup on the back and on the front as well. On the back of the smartphone, there are a 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors and on the front, there are a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixels sensors.

Other Specifications:

The smartphone is backed up by a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery, but there is no information about the fast charging or any sort of quick charging support. The smartphone features a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the back which unlocks the smartphone in less than a second.

Colour Variants, Pricing, And Availability:

The smartphone comes in three color variants, the Black, Blue, and the Gold variant. There is no information given about the pricing and availability of the device. We also don’t know yet whether Huawei will launch this Y9(2018) smartphone in India or in other markets.

Other than this, Huawei is also expected to launch their 2018 flagship smartphones the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro which features an iPhone X like a notch on the top of the display and verticle triple camera setup.
