Xiaomi has been teasing us about their upcoming mid-range smartphone for Indians which called CompactPowerHouse from last few days and it is now official they’ve unveiled a new affordable mid-range Android smartphone called Redmi 5. Today Xiaomi officially launched Redmi 5 smartphone variant in Indian market which was actually launched last year December in China.

Talking about the all-new Redmi 5 smartphone, Xiaomi claimed that it is the thinnest Redmi model ever built. The very first we notice in Redmi 5 variant is it has huge 5.7-inches display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 full-screen display.

Redmi 5 smartphone comes with a same premium metal body design which was used in Redmi Note 5 variant and it has thin bezels that will make a feel greater while holding in hand.

As always Xiaomi came up with a variety of beautiful colours to choose such as Black, Gold, Lake Blue and Elegant rose gold.

Redmi 5 Performance

Coming to the performance highlights, the all-new Redmi 5 smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 450 SoC Octa-core processor comes in 64-bit architecture and there’s also a Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU chipset combination is capable of delivering a great extent of mobile performance.

It seems Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 variant has some similarities, both these devices use sophisticated 14nm FinFET technology which helps to reduce the size of processor thus makes the Redmi 5 even more compact than its predecessors.

Xiaomi also claimed that AnTuTu score of the all-new Redmi 5 smartphone is 69,000 which is 22% greater than the Moto G5s model.

Huge PowerHouse

Redmi 5 smartphones are packed with a huge 3300mAh battery capacity which is significantly higher than the Samsung J7 NXT (3000mAh) and Moto G5S (3000mAh).

The 14nm FinFET technology also helps to optimize the battery performance, so under regular usage conditions, it is expected that Redmi 5 last more than a day, 9 hours backup time for continuous gaming, 10 hours of video playback and lastly it’s standby time is more than 17 days.

Camera Highlights

Let’s talk about the Redmi 5 camera department, it sports a 12MP rear camera lens which comes with first ever large 1.25micro-m pixels that captures a brighter, crisper and more vibrant photos.

On the front, Redmi 5 sports a first-ever LED selfie light which helps to capture better low-light pictures.

Along with above key features, Xiaomi also made some interesting customization’s for Indian users such as Dual pyrolytic graphite which helps to reduce the surface temperature by 2° C. Keeping in mind the power fluctuations in India Xiaomi also customized their power adopter which can handle up to 380V.

So lastly there will be three different variants are going to available in Redmi 5 series, such as 2GB+ 16GB priced Rs 7,999, 3GB + 32GB storage variant priced Rs 8,999 and 4GB + 64GB variant priced Rs 10,999.

All these variants are available from the 20th march on Mi.com, Mi Home, and Amazon store. Reliance Jio is offering a Rs 2,200 instant cashback and 100GB additional 4G data and you also get 5% cashback using sbi credit cards.
