While there is still a lot of time for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus which are expected to be the biggest launches in Samsung’s history as it will be the 10th anniversary of the original Samsung Galaxy S smartphone. It is rumoured that the new flagship smartphones from Samsung will carry 3D Facial Technology and In-Display Fingerprint sensor instead of the Iris Scanner which was used in the previous flagship smartphone
It is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2019 and according to reports by Korean media, The Bell has revealed some interesting information related to the upcoming S10 and S10 Plus.
Samsung To Ditch Iris Scanner
Earlier reports had suggested that Samsung was going to remove the iris scanner from its flagship smartphones and the upcoming Note 9 will be the last Samsung flagship smartphone to feature the iris scanner which was first introduced in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus.
It is a known fact that the current iris scanner from Samsung found on the Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus isn’t the best option to unlock as it isn’t as fast and has a lot of limitations.
People find it easier to unlock the phone using the fingerprint scanner which is now placed in a decent position on the S9 and the S9 Plus.
Samsung instead wishes to invest in a 3D facial recognition technology which was seen on the newly launched Oppo Find X, Xiaomi Mi 8 to name a few.
It has also been found that people prefer Apple’s Face ID on the iPhone X as it is faster and more accurate and the others prefer a fingerprint reader.
About 3D Facial Recognition Technology
As reports suggest, Samsung is working with a firm based in Israel called Mantis vision to implement the 3D facial technology in their smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 will also feature an In-Display Fingerprint Scanner and we have seen this on the Vivo NEX.
